Tesla 5MWH Commercial Battery

We have always been progressive and proactive in advancing projects that benefit the Canberra region through activities such as early adoption of Solar, regenerative agriculture, land development and local industry support initiatives.  We have been developing a project for a large-scale battery installation to support electrical grid infrastructure in the constrained parts of Canberra’s network via Frequency Control and Ancillary Services (FCAS).

Tesla’s First Megapack

Featuring cutting edge technology and their dedicated first utility scale battery – megapack.  This will also be Tesla’s first Megapack into Australia and they want to create a showcase article to highlight the long term benefits this can play in electrical grid support

Solar PV Installation

Elvin Group will also be installing a Ground Mounted 500kw Solar Farm to help provide charging capabilities to the BESS installation. This will help ensure the operating ability of the battery during early afternoon - evening peak loads. Giving the community a vision for the future

Australia’s Largest Commercial Battery

This will be the largest commercial battery installation focused on providing utility and grid support. The installation area in Holt has been confirmed by EvoEnergy for immediate need in FCAS Support

Canberra’s Utility Battery

This will also be the largest single battery in ACT and first ACT utility BESS. Throughout this process we have been engaging with EvoEnergy through their approval process we are also developing a framework for future knowledge sharing to benefit the ACT and its local residents

Project Details

•Since October 2019 – Elvin group had been developing and investigating multiple BESS options for supply. This also involved two factory QA/QC inspections of products for the final two manufacturers being BYD (Shenzhen) and Telsa (USA). The final decision on battery manufacturer was made after analysing the capability, reliability and support network offered by both companies, Tesla was successfully chosen.
